G N O M E

 

The basic components to be considered are :

KeyBoard Shortcuts :

ADDING AN APPLET ON GNOME PANEL :

  1. Right click on an open space in the panel.
  2. Select add to panel.
  3. Select an Applet from one of the categories ( Accessories, Amusements, Internet, Multimedia, utilities, etc.)
  4. Select the applet to add from the category selected.

ADDING ANOTHER PANEL :

  1. Right click on an open space in the panel.
  2. Select New Panel.
  3. Select from one of the menu items ( Corner Panel, Edge Panel, Floating Panel, Sliding Panel, Menu Panel.)
  4. To remove - right click and [Delete].

ADDING AN APPLICATION LAUNCHER :

  1. Right click on an open space in the panel.
  2. Select [ Add to Panel -> Launcher ] from the Menu. All application categories from your main desktop menu.
  3. Select the category of the application you want. then select the application. An icon representing the application appears.

If the application you want to launch is not on your red hat menu, then you can build one yourself as below :

  1. right click in an open space on the panel.
  2. select [ Add to panel -> Launcher ].The create launch bar window appears.
  3. Provide the information  for application you want  to add ( Name, Generic name, comment, command).
  4. click the icon box. select one of the icons shown and click OK.

ADDING A DRAWER :

  1. By adding a drawer to your GNOME panel, you can add several applets and launchers and have them take up only one slot on your panel.
  2. To add a drawer to your panel, right click the panel and then select [ Add to panel -> Drawer ].
  3. by right clicking an drawer, you can add applets, launchers as if on panel.

Changing GNOME preferences :

  1. click [ preferences -> control center ].
  2. or type [ preferences:/// ] in Nautilus (file manager) location box.
